What is the mission of the Delbert B. Madison II Foundation?

The Delbert B. Madison II Foundation provides economic opportunities to students who have persevered through life challenges. Our primary focus is awarding scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate resilience and determination similar to what Delbert displayed throughout his life with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Who was Delbert B. Madison II?

Delbert B. Madison II was born on August 18, 1994, and was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at age 7. He passed away on July 14, 2020, at age 25, leaving behind a legacy of determination, courage, and joy that inspires our foundation's work.

How can students apply for the scholarship?

High school seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher can apply by submitting a completed application form, transcript, two recommendation letters from academic teachers or counselors, proof of college admission, and a personal essay describing their goals, challenges faced, and why they deserve the scholarship. All materials should be submitted Here by the specified deadline.

How can I support the foundation's work?

There are several ways to support our mission: make a financial donation through our website, volunteer your time at foundation events, share information about our scholarships with eligible students, or partner with us as a corporate or community sponsor. Every contribution helps us provide more educational opportunities to deserving students.

Does the foundation serve only students from Montgomery, Alabama?

The foundation initially focused on students from Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama, but we are expanding to serve deserving students throughout Montgomery County and beyond. Our vision is to grow our impact while maintaining our commitment to supporting students who demonstrate exceptional perseverance in the face of significant challenges.
